Welcome to Mevagissey House

Mevagissey House is a former Georgian rectory standing in 3 acres of peaceful woodland gardens and is approached via a long tree-lined drive. There are four holiday cottages in its grounds. The Coach House, Goose Cottage, Sea Thrift and Glebe Cottage. The cottages have plenty of private off road parking and are situated on the edge of the village with views of Heligan in one direction and the coastline in the other. Located on the edge of the village so no traffic to worry about, only a 10 minute downhill walk to Mevagissey harbour and a short drive to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and 20 minute drive to The Eden Project. Mevagissey Feast Week 2025 29 June - 5 July. Mevagissey Shanty Festival 2025 17-19 October.

All cottages are Friday change-over, and have on-site parking and Free WiFi.

The writer Susan Cooper based two of her books (Over Sea, Under Stone and Greenwitch) in her well-known fantasy series The Dark Is Rising in Mevagissey (named Trewissick in the books), where she used to holiday in Cornwall as a child. Mevagissey House is the vicarage from the first book 'Over Sea Under Stone', where Jane first meets the mysterious Mr Hastings.
